⁷² Make an inquiry to find out who I am and the identity of the others who are supporting me. You will be told that you cannot make a stand against us. Your ancestors were twice put to flight in their own land. ⁷³ Now you too will not be able to withstand my cavalry and such an army in the plain, where there is not a stone or a pebble or a place to flee.”

⁷⁴ When Jonathan heard this message from Apollonius, his spirit was aroused. He set out from Jerusalem with ten thousand picked men, and his brother Simon joined him with reinforcements.
